Copy and paste = Toss in the waste
Today, I sat down to review some job applications and I could not be more disappointed in what I saw. I had seen some amazing profiles and resumes and I had forwarded them to my boss to review. I was shocked however when these individuals took the interview quiz.
So what happened? What led to me dismissing their profile? Copy and Paste. Yes, this is advice I did not think I would have to give anyone but please never copy and paste your cover letter, resume or quiz answers from blogs. With a quick copyscape test it was revealed that these individuals had lazily copied and pasted their answers.
The answers were rated between 50%- 100% full of plagiarized content. One reason why this was an automatic disqualification is because the position would involve content writing and managing the company profile. If a person were to copy and paste information, the company can be sued.
The quiz and cover letter is requested because we want to hear your voice, know about you and how you think. We want to gauge if you will fit into the MO of the company. Be original, that is how you stand out.
In conclusion, always write your own cover letter and never copy and paste the information from popular blogs and sites. Remember, copy and paste will get tossed in the waste.
